Safe Surgery 2015 Toolkit

Description

This toolkit is part of the World Health Organization Safe Surgery 2015 Initiative, which is using the Surgical Safety Checklist Program to help hospitals reduce surgical infections, major complications, and related deaths. The goal is to implement the checklist in every hospital in the United States by 2015. Along with the checklist, the toolkit includes a seven-step program to guide users as they implement the checklist. The toolkit includes resources such as videos, webinars, and slides.

The seven steps are as follows:

  1. Checklist background
  2. Critical preparation
  3. Checklist modification and customization
  4. Testing the checklist
  5. Engaging surgical team members in this work
  6. Implementation planning
