Dr. Nieva is a seasoned researcher and research manager who serves as the project director for the AHRQ
Health Care Innovations Exchange. She supervises all aspects of this project.
Dr. Nieva is a Vice President and Director of the Organizational and Management Research Group (OMRG) at
Westat. During her more than 20 years at Westat, Dr. Nieva has directed a variety of large-scale projects for
various Federal agencies. An organizational psychologist, much of her work focuses on understanding, measuring,
and improving organizational functioning in a variety of contexts ranging from individuals and work teams to
private industry and military institutions. Her recent work focuses on patient safety and dissemination of
research findings and products, as reflected in AHRQ-sponsored projects such as the Expansion of the Survey
on Patient Safety and Benchmarking Database, the Patient Safety Research Coordinating Center, and Patient
Safety Measures. Dr. Nieva holds a Doctorate in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan.
